Instructor Bob Mahler - Bonsai professional, former curator of Bonsai collection at Brooklyn Botanical Garden will work with club members on select trees.

Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020Workshops will be held at:

   Maryland Agricultural Resource Council, 1114 Shawan Rd, Cockeysville, MD 21030.

   Times- Session One- 9:00 am- 12:30 pm and Session Two- 12:30 pm- 4:00 pm.

    Sean Smith will conduct (2) workshops . One workshop will focus on Suiseki  and  Daiza.  Participants of the second session will              carve  a Redwood Root Stand . The  workshops are  definitely  hands on instruction and you will be astonished at how                              fabulous your Daiza and/or Root Stand turns out.           

   The Workshop Includes: Diaza blank 5.5”, stone, sandpaper, pencils, and other materials.

   You will need to provide these tools: Electric Dremel, Dremel burr bit ¼” 1/8” SHAFT, ½” Dremel sanding drum

Note-   MARC requires a waiver. On Sunday, when you arrive,  go to the BACO safe AP at https://bacosafe.org, then answer the (3) questions, then  Check in. Show the Check-in note on the site to to Betty Lou for the  9:00 am workshop before entering the building.

All other members and guests will also have to comply with the waiver and someone will be available for this simple checkin.

Some basic info: Masks must be worn in the building and maintain 6' distancing

   There will be a general club meeting and will be followed by a presentation with (3) demonstrations by Young Choe . She has                   presented workshops, lectures and demonstrations about Kusamono throughout the United States, as well as internationally.
   This will be an interesting and informative presentation that you do not want to miss.

 

Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020- Club Christmas Party will be at Tony's Hibachi and Japanese and Sushi Grill, located at:

   1213 Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784.

   Time: 12:00 Noon- Until !

    Note- We will have our annual Dirty Santa Gift Exchange Adventure. Anyone interested should bring a gift valued around $ 30.00.

   The workshop will work with Himmel's customers who are interested in Bonsai. If you have the time and would like to help, please

Saturday February 1, 2020-  Barry's hard work provided a great opportunity to participate in an on-site dig for some nice maple trees. More than 20 members were able to dig up some great trees and had a great time.

Barry's note:

  We are invited to be part of an all day event at Bowman's in Westminster Saturday July 20 from 10 to 4. There will be a lot of people coming by and we will be helping them with trees, doing demos, and displaying trees. These events are lots of fun and a great way to sharpen your skills and introduce people to Bonsai. Please let me know if you can help. You can if you wish bring trees to talk about or just tools to work on their trees. You can stay as long as you wish as there is no time limit for us, but don't think you have to stay the whole time. For me I feel these workshops really help you grow in the art and inspire you. We all get a bit flat and discouraged at times and this will elevate you to great heights....or at least motivate you somewhat. Thanks!! Please contact me if you can  participate.

   Mahler. The meeting and workshop was well attended and a lot of interest in Bob returning in the future for further                       presentations and workshops

 

Sunday, July 22, 2018-    George conducted a workshop about Boxwood Trees  at Valley View Farms, located at:

  11035 York Rd, Cockeysville, MD 21030. George did an outstanding job and members are looking forward to putting his                suggestions into  practice. 

 

Monday, May 14, 2018- Maryland Bonsai Association Members participated in a one day workshop at the U.S. National                     Arboretum in Washington, DC. Renowned international instructor Mauro Stemberger worked closely with members in design, wiring, and styling their trees. The group was very complimentary about Mauro and his techniques. Everyone was excited and  is  looking forward to a session next year with Mauro. For those that were unable or could not attend, make this a priority  for the next workshop with Mauro next year.

   As part of his 2018 World Tour, Mauro will conduct a BYOT Workshop at Natures Way Nursery in June; and will also appear    at the 6th US National Bonsai Exhibition in Sept.

 

 

Saturday, April 14, 2018- Maryland Bonsai Association Members Bill Petterson and George Thoupos made a presentation and     Bonsai demonstration to The Baltimore Kawasaki Sister City Committee Annual Hanami  Outdoor Community Picnic at the         Middle Branch Park in Brooklyn, MD. The event was well attended. Bill and George were excited to make this presentation         and meet so many interested attendees.
