Wikipedia defines a study group as a small group of people who regularly meet to discuss shared fields of study. That is a generalized definition in relation to advanced study groups for Bonsai enthusiasts.
Maryland Bonsai members have the opportunity to participate in specialized instruction small study groups consisting of typically 5- 7 students 4- 6 times a year. Each workshop session is led by a qualified instructor who will conduct training sessions dedicated to helping the members to obtain a greater level of advanced specialized and concentrated instruction than general workshops can normally address. The groups are limited in size to ensure the instructor can spend considerable one-on-one time with every participant and their instruction level increases at each session. Fees for study groups will vary by the instructor, number of sessions, and number of participants in the study group. These groups provide a level of training for those who want to advance to their next skill level. Some of our instructors include Danny Coffey, Owen Reich, Bob Mahler, Martha Meehan, Tyler Sherrod, and other qualified instructors.
